Communication
The I-8437 / 8837 provides ethernet
solutions. It contains 4 communication ports, COM1:RS232, COM2: 10M
ethernet , COM3:RS232/RS485, COM4:RS232.
The I-8417 / 8817 provides RS485 solutions.
It contains 4 communication ports, COM1:RS232, COM2: RS485, COM3:
RS232 / RS485, COM4:RS232.
These different communication ports can
provide different kinds of usage include RS485 networking,
controller to controller data-exchange, Modbus / Modbus TCP
protocol, remote I/O extension, linking with HMI / MMI, program
download / upload , and debugging.
Modbus & Modbus
TCP/IP
Modbus is a widely used communication
protocol. The I-8417 / 8817 supports Modbus RTU protocol on RS232
(COM1) and RS485 (COM2). The I-8437 / 8837 supports Modbus RTU
protocol on RS232 (COM1) and Modbus TCP/IP protocol on Ethernet
(COM2).
Any HMI (for example, Iconics, Intouch, FIX,
Citect, Wizcon, Labview, Lablink, ...), Modbus OPC server, touch
monitors (for example, The Touch 506, Touch 509, Touch 510) or other
MMI devices can easily talk with the I-8xx7 by Modbus protocol. It
is easy to find software and devices with the Modbus protocol on the
market. Or, by using VB, VC programming, users can design software
with Modbus protocol to talk with the controller.
Modbus
Master
The COM1 and COM2 of I-8417/ 8817/ 8437/ 8837
are Modbus slave ports. PC and HMI are the Modbus master and talk
with the Modbus slave port of COM1 or COM2 of the controllers.
Moreover, I-8xx7 can also provide Modbus Master protocol on
either COM3 or COM4 of the controllers, in order to talk to
devices with Modbus slave protocol, such as PLC, RTU, power
meter¡K
Multi-client
Connection
Each I-8437 / 8837 has an Ethernet port and
can take your control system to Internet world. Each I-8437 / 8837
has an IP address and with a fixed Ethernet port No. of 502. Up to 5
PCs can link to one I-8437 / 8837 through Ethernet. Another PC or
MMI can link to COM1: RS232 port of the I-8437/ 8837. Therefore, the
maximum number of clients that can be linked is 6.
For the I-8417/ 8817, the maximum number of
clients that can be linked is 2, one linking to COM1: RS232 and the
other linking to COM2: RS485.
RS485
Network
One PC or HMI can link to one I-7520
converter to talk to a maximun of 255 I-8417 / 8817 controllers on a
RS485 network. The I-8417 / 8817 uses COM2:RS485 as its RS485
network port. Each controller on the same RS485 network should set
its unique NET-ID to make networking smooth and error-free. The max.
distance can be up to 1200 meters with the terminal resistors.
Data Exchange via Fbus or
Ebus
Fbus ( RS-485 network )
Each I-8xx7 can use its other RS-485 port (
COM3 ) to talk to each other via the Fbus communication mechanism .
Fbus can be used to broadcast data to each controller or each
controller can request to send or receive data from any other
controller on the same Fbus network.
Ebus ( Ethernet network)
Each 8437 / 8837 can use its ethernet port (
COM2 ) to talk to each other via the Ebus communication mechanism.
When the PC is talking with controllers via ethernet, the
controllers can also talk to eachother via the same Ethernet, It
makes the configuration more flexible and faster.
Sending
Email
The ISaGRAF driver inside the I-8417 / 8817 /
8437 / 8837 provides ¡§Email¡¨ function block to send email form the
COM4 of the controller via a general modem. Then it will be an
useful and easy way to send an alarm message to the system operator.
Or it can becom a production report system. |
Various IO boards / Remote
IO Extension
The I-8417 / 8437
provides 4 empty slots while the I-8817 / 8837 provides 8 empty
slots on-board. The IO boards include Digital I/O, Relay output,
SSR-DC/AC output, AC input, Strain Gauge input, Analog I/O, RTD,
Thermocouple, counter, frequency, and more. There are more
than 30 different I/O boards available now and, in the future, there
will be more. The max. channel provided by the I-8040 / 8041 /
8042 Digital I/O boards is 32.
Remote IO modules
are useful for some distributed applications. The I-8417 / 8817 /
8437 / 8837 can integrate with the I-7000 and I-87xx modules by
linking one of its COM3 or COM4 ports to each remote I/O module. A
max. number of 64 remote I/O modules can be linked to one
controller and max. number of 16 I/O channels for some remote I/O
modules.
Remotely Download Program:
Modem_Link
The Mode_Link is
an software designed by ICP DAS, which need to be installed into the
ISaGRAF software in your PC. The Modem_Link provide you a easy way
to remotely download your ISaGRAF program to the I-8417/ 8817/ 8437/
8837 via a general modem. And also you can monitor every I/O, data
and if the program allows, you can controll it via the Modem.
